Equity Diversity and Inclusion
Statement
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) are core values and practices that promote fairness and respect for everyone. They are fundamental principles that guide our organization and shape everything we do.The Navy League of Canada is committed to championing an atmosphere of openness and respect where our members, volunteers, cadets, partners and supporters all feel welcomed, valued, respected and safe.
We believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential for building a strong organization and providing a safe, and supportive environment where our members, cadets, and officers can learn, grow, and thrive. We are committed to advocating for these values through education, awareness, training, and action.
We will lead by example in our commitment to providing an inclusive environment where our Members and Cadets feel empowered to be their authentic selves and are able to bring their unique perspectives, ideas and contributions to their Corps/Branches and communities.
While this is an important foundation of both of the youth programs that we support, we have a distinct obligation and opportunity to empower our Navy League Cadets by celebrating their unique identities and fostering a community that values, encourages, and celebrates equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The Navy League of Canada encourages active engagement of our volunteer members, officers, and cadets (while including their parents/guardians) to ensure that our principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are foundations of all planning and delivery in order for our Navy League Cadet program to be both a safe and brave space.
The Navy League of Canada and its members all have an important role in promoting inclusivity and understanding while ensuring that diversity, equity and inclusion are part of all of the activities, actions, and decisions to create and foster an environment where all backgrounds, identities, and perspectives are welcome, respected, encouraged, and valued.
