You we’re recently granted an award; share with us how you feel about having your hard work recognized at the National level.I feel very recognized, proud and special to be granted this award. It brings me something prestigious to work with going forward in my life. With many memories I will never forget and finding what it means when hard work pays off.
Tell us why you decided to become a Navy League cadet. What are the reasons that motivated you to continue and persevere in the program?
I heard great stories from my mom, my uncle and my grandma about the fun and how amazing it was and I should join too, so I did. I had so much fun with my friends and learned tons, and when I worked hard I got promotions and rewards and loved it.
Can you share with us a pleasant memory or anecdote about your time at The Navy League?
When I was at D-day 2024 I got to talk with Mr. Watson, the oldest veteran in Swift Current. Then I got to ride in a World War II personnel carrier around Memorial Park.
What do you consider your biggest achievement as a Navy League cadet?
The honor of being named and awarded as the Provincial and National Navy League Cadet of the Year in 2024 has been my greatest achievement as a Navy League Cadet.
What are your future goals and aspirations?
To excel as a Sea Cadet in Swift Current, hopefully become Chief again and win some more awards. When I am older I hope to be in the Navy, then when I retire become a Navy League officer.
If you were to address the national partners in the Leagues and DND/CAF, what advice and recommendations would you provide regarding how to improve the Cadet Programs?
Bringing back more trips and international exchanges would make people excited to be a part of the programs, more exercises and competitions like sailing regattas and marksmanship
